Roof replacement - Residential Review Notes A plan review has not been performed for this permit. Specifications and scope of work to be provided to city inspector at times of inspections and all information is subject to approval by field inspector. IRC 2021 / CFW ORD. # 25383 2015 IECC: R-38 insulation required in altered portions of the attic Roof and Ceiling Construction shall comply with all specifications of Fort Worth Residential Code, IRC 2021 Chapter 9. Roof and ceiling construction shall be capable of accommodating all loads imposed according to Section R301 and of transmitting the resulting loads to the supporting structural elements. All roof coverings shall be a minimum of Class C. Replacement shingles or shakes shall be a minimum of Class C. Minimum roof panel sheathing thickness is 5/8” When reroofing, or repairing existing roofing, the installer is required to insure the following items are maintained (R908.7 amended): Existing roof drains and drainage systems are maintained clear and unobstructed. When in the opinion of the Building Official the existing drainage system appears to be inadequate, the system shall be re-evaluated and when necessary required to comply with the provisions for new construction. Fire retardant requirements are maintained R908.8, amended: Attic Space – Construction of a sloped or flat roof over an existing roof in a manner that created and attic or concealed space shall require the removal of any existing roofing material composed of tar, asphalt or roof insulation from the newly created attic space. When a permit is required, a final inspection and approval must be obtained from the Building Official when the reroofing or installation of new roof is complete.
